Since the commercial success of 2004’s gold-certified This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In), Chevelle has taken a less mainstream approach with their last few albums, but the Illinois trio is still charting album sales worldwide and touring on such modern-rock success.
Founding brothers Pete and Sam Loeffer, along with bassist Dean Bernardini, are hitting up a number of northwest dates – including Vancouver next Wednesday at the Commodore Ballroom – in support of their sixth studio album, last year’s Hats Off to the Bull. The latest single, the album’s riff-rampant title track, is almost a surefire opener for what is to be a hard-rocking evening.
The band’s set is will likely include such heavy hits as “The Clincher” and “Closure”, along with cuts like “Well Enough Alone” from Vena Sera, “Letter from a Thief” from 2009’s Sci-Fi Crimes and “Mia” off their 2000 debut Point #1.
Keep your fingers crossed for the band’s encore to end the show with the U.S. alternative and mainstream smashes “Send the Pain Below” and “Vitamin R (Leading Us Along)” from the band’s breakthrough sophomore record, Wonder What’s Next. As veterans of the modern rock genre, Chevelle won’t disappoint when they take over 868 Granville Street.
Tickets cost $39.25 and are on sale through Ticketmaster in-person and online.
